Bordeaux bustle dress by lill-sara Bordeaux bustle dress by lill-sara
1880-1890s bustle skirt and vest (actually the same as this one) of thin black wool. The purse is from the same fabric as the skirt and vest.
The underskirt and shirt is from a pinstriped bordeaux cotton.

I really like how editorial this is. It has the crisp stylization and progressive attitude of "steampunk", but keeps the craft and authenticity of a genuine period piece.

The draping on the front is made from making folds on the front part of the skirt and then sewing them onto the back part of the skirt, then I use ribbons to tie the front under the bustle on the back. Does it make sense?
Otherwise, Truly Victorian's patterns explains very well how to make this kind of skirt.
